our history
A campsite born from adventure
The history of Hätteboda Vildmarkscamping began long before the first guests arrived in 1997. After years of sailing and running tourism operations in the Caribbean, Per and Maj-Britt returned to Hätteboda Gård with an idea: to create a campsite where people could truly experience nature in its purest form.
They wanted to offer something different from traditional campsites – a place where silence, forest, and lake take centre stage. Where families could gather around the fire, paddle on the lake, fish, hike, and rediscover the joy of a simpler life without electricity and constant connectivity. That vision became the foundation of Hätteboda Vildmarkscamping, which opened its first camping pitches in 1997.

The vision continues
Since 1 January 2021, the campsite has been run by Carl, Jenny, and their family. The goal remains the same as when the campsite was first founded.
– to offer a nature-based experience where peace, simplicity, and togetherness take centre stage.
We cherish what has made Hätteboda unique over the years: the spacious camping pitches, the proximity to the lake and forest, the wood-fired experiences, and the feeling of being part of nature rather than just visiting it.
The founders created the vision
the current family continues to preserve and develop it.
Welcome to Hätteboda
Whether you come here to fish, paddle, hike, or simply enjoy the silence, we hope you will feel the same as generations of guests before you – that Hätteboda is a place to long to return to.
